Announcement
well... hello there! Let me tell you a little bit about me and my vibe and what's going on here?
I envision my dolls existing in the time period of the Great Depression and World War 2. Why? Because they are crafted from a vintage mail order pattern from that era that I have tweeked. I collect the vintage homemade dolls that I find from that pattern and I love to see the individual variations and the effects of age and use. Also, that era is my own obsessive aesthetic: the clothes, movies, books, toys, furnishings, imagery, and general feel has always spoken to me and that’s my starting point. But I'm also a life-long member of the counter-culture, so throw in a little 80’s punk, goth, hardcore, hip-hop and a dash of modern minimalist classical music, and that’s the environment these dolls are coming from.
All of my dolls have the same simple face style: black glass eyes, rosy cheeks, and freckles. I do not embroider smiles on my dolls faces. Why? Because I prefer a simple, thoughtful, neutral expression to project your memories, reverie, and imagination onto.
Keep in mind: for clothes construction I use mostly antique, vintage and recycled-garment fabric. Not only is the quality much better than any ‘by-the-yard from a big box craft store’ but with each piece of fabric comes a secret history that brings special life to each doll. Some of the fabric will have been worn and washed many many times and there will be indication of that wear: softness, unevenness of pattern, fading, areas of thinness, small imperfections. Sometimes it's scraps that have never been used but have sat, neatly folded, waiting for decades to become a doll dress. I personally find this charming and this is part of my process and what I do. Rest assured that everything has been thoroughly washed and cleaned. Sometimes I will also add a little accent of brand new 100% cotton, flannel, and linen, in solids, gingham, stripes, or polka dots for things like garment lining or underwear. I prefer simple, classic patterns.
I prefer to use natural materials. I find that they also bring a special life into each doll. Sheep locks or wool yarn for hair, 100% wool for stuffing, recycled leather for shoes, etc. I dye the doll body fabric in tea/cinnamon/vanilla. All of these materials have a smell of some kind: sheep locks smell like sheep locks, wool smells like wool, leather smells like leather, tea/cinnamon/vanilla smells like tea/cinnamon/vanilla. Rest assured that everything has been thoroughly washed and cleaned.
ALSO: please know that there are three dogs and one cat that spend their lives with me, so if you are extremely allergic, I am not the one for you.
Please read my shop policies and understand that all sales are final. Ask any questions in advance, I am happy to talk to anyone. I take great GREAT pride in my work and pour my heart and soul into every thing I make.

5 out of 5 starsI had this pattern when I bought the doll for my daughter. I used it, but got rid of it for some stupid reason. Now my great grand-daughter is enjoying the doll. :) Thanks for making it available.
